Things are progressing nicely

July 14th, 2010

Hey Everyone,

Things are tracking along nicely with my injury. I’m slowly beginning to walk without the moonboot. it’s great to be walking again but nerve racking at the same time as only time will tell if everything is healed okay. Thanks for all your well wishes.

It was great to see the team do so well on the weekend, I”m looking forward to this weekends game!

Thanks again for all your support,

Ali

Things are going well.

May 16th, 2010

Hey everyone, just a quick update to let you know that things are going well.

I’m spending some recovery time at the beach. I’ve got to keep my leg elevated so I’m just taking things easy.

It was a good win for the boys last night against the Chiefs and it’s great to see the Crusaders flying the flag for the NZ teams in the Super 14.

Further Surgery Needed

May 1st, 2010

Further Surgery for Ali

All Blacks and Blues lock Ali Williams’ return to rugby will be delayed with news that he will require a third operation on his troublesome Achilles tendon.

Williams had been in rehabilitation from surgery after rupturing his right Achilles in a pre–season match for the Blues in January.

However, All Blacks Doctor Deb Robinson said he had been suffering unexpected pain in recent weeks and a follow–up scan in Auckland on Thursday had revealed further damage to his tendon.

“The scan showed that, while the surgical procedure to connect the tendon to his joint remains intact, it has caused a partial tear further up his tendon,” Dr Robinson said.

As a result, Williams will require a third operation which will involve a reconstruction of the tendon.

Williams had been aiming to return to rugby in the ITM Cup but Dr Robinson said he would now be out of action until the end of the year.

“It’s obviously a frustrating and distressing time for Ali but throughout his setbacks over the last year he has remained optimistic about his situation and is keen to overcome his injuries and get back on the rugby field.”

All Blacks Coach Graham Henry said: “Everyone involved in the All Blacks feels for Ali and we will continue to give him our full support as he goes through further surgery and rehabilitation.”

Quick Update

March 10th, 2010

Hi Everyone,
Things are much the same here. I’ll be in the  moon boot and on crutches for another month or so yet, so I’m unable to get around as much as I’d like , but things are progressing nicely.

My time’s being spent  helping out  at Blues training , assisting where I can and directing  the  lineouts. I’ve been keeping busy with my business interests. as well.
I’ve  got a live radio broadcast every Wednesday night on Radio Live at 7pm. It’s a talk show , anyone can phone in  and  have a chat so have a listen and  even better phone in and have a chat. If you miss the show live you can go to www.radiolive.com and listen to the pod casts.

Well that’s about it from me for now,

Cheers,
Ali

Injury Update

February 9th, 2010

Quick update on the injury situation.

The first week of my recovery has gone well . I’ve been spending two hours a day in a hyperbaric chamber which is helping  the healing process along.  I was put into a moon boot today so now I’m able to get around the place on crutches. I’ve also started to venture out of the house again thanks to local taxi drivers who I’ve been getting pretty friendly with since I’m unable to drive.

I’ll keep you posted on my progress.

Cheers,

Ali
